Business Administration Degree

Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science program in Business Administration at Kennedy-Western University offers students the basic practical considerations and applications of the discipline in topical areas chosen to enhance capabilities and improve career potential. It provides an introduction to the American and international business and addresses social responsibility, effective leadership, and the evolution of management. Students learn the basics of business administration from communicating in the corporate world to promoting products utilizing marketing principles, economic theories and effective forecasting. It is here, within the program of Business Administration, the foundation of business is laid.

Master of Science

The graduate program offers a similar exposure to those mid-career professionals with a firm grasp of business fundamentals, who wish to advance themselves in their current work, transition to a new challenge, or simply increase their knowledge in the area of business administration. It assumes the fundamentals of business and management skills are already familiar to the student, and builds upon that knowledge to add form to the structure. For instance, the opportunities for students to learn specialized management techniques is evident in courses such as Technical Managerial Accounting, Economics for Managers, Marketing Management, and New Enterprise Management. Critical thinking, decision making and problem solving are explored more deeply through the additional management courses also included in the graduate Business Administration's program: Principles of Total Quality Management, Computer Technology for Managers, Management Science and Financial Management.

Doctor of Philosophy

The doctoral program builds upon the content laid down in the Master's program while providing considerably more in-depth exposure, orienting itself toward those students with senior management potential. Included are high-level management strategy courses that require planning, designing, organizing through to implementation in such areas as Finance, Information Systems, and Project and Systems Management. Students learn how to improve organizational performance by examining the strategies of business policy and review the legal, ethical and regulatory environments of business. The corporate taxation of various transactions is another important aspect for mid-career professionals to consider. And finally the course Advanced Business Policy covers the role of the CEO, which is the highest responsibility for ensuring cohesion between departments and among managers, themselves.
